60's Mod.

Dress: Banana Republic (borrowed from Mimi)
Flats: Joe Fresh
Necklace: Forever 21

I was always one to love anything retro. I am fascinated by how fashion always repeats and reinvents itself. This dress reminds me of the 60’s. Everything from the print, color, and style makes me think mod. I think this dress is great on it’s own but could be worn with tights, boots, and a cozy sweater.
I hope you are all enjoying your week. The weekend is almost here!

Animal Takeover.

Dress: Akiko
Belt: Joe Fresh
Shoes: Sam Edelman
Ring: Betsey Johnson

I am all for the animal prints taking over fashion this season. As you all probably know I have a great love for leopard print, but snakeskin is becoming a new obsession. So why not mix snakeskin and leopard print together? If you are scared of wearing this trend, you could try it subtly by mixing a leopard belt with a snakeskin flat. Do it in small doses to try it out. How do you feel about mixing animal prints together? Yay or nay?

Tied in a bow.

Top: Forever21
Skirt: Tulle
Heels: Kenneth Cole Reaction
Cuff: Forever21

Imagine my delight when I found this top. Polka dots, sleeveless, and tied in a bow? A dream top. It is great for transitioning into fall and winter. I can layer it under pieces, and over pieces. Are you keeping any of your summer pieces to layer for fall?

Prayer Needed.

I know this isn’t a personal blog but I need to share this. Last week a friend of mine from High School was in a serious bicycle accident. He is currently sedated and in a coma. I haven’t seen Dave for several years. I do remember what a caring, kind, and friendly guy he is. When we were in grade 12, a large group of us went to New York. While we were there I remember how Dave would hold an umbrella over me, and if we were in a rough area he would be my partner and watch out for me. He looked out for me, and I haven’t forgotten. He has a large group of people who love him, and can’t wait to see him open his eyes and smile again. Please pray and send your love his way. I know it makes a difference. Thank you in advance.

On saturday the sun was shining, it felt like a warm summer day. My husband and I wen to the Downtown Farmer’s market on 104 Street. I thought this dress was the perfect thing to wear. I love how I can dress it up or down.
While we were there we ran into many friends, including the talented Derek Gust. He is a local very talented musician. Check out his myspace.

Duchess Bake Shop.

The Salgado preview was set at Duchess Bake Shop on 124 Street downtown. Their delicious treats and beautiful decor was the perfect backdrop for Genette’s preview. They have a wide selection of scrumptious treats, including: macarons, cookies, cakes, and meringues. My new favourite is the Paris-Brest. I can’t explain to you how mouthwatering this treat is. I suggest you stop by, you won’t be disappointed.

Salgado Preview.

How darling are Genette and her assistant Arlee? Some of the sweetest girls I know!
I had the pleasure of previewing Genette Salgado’s “Not Fade Away” collection for Spring 2012 the other night. She will be showing her collection at Western Canada Fashion Weekon September.28th. I was excited to see the pieces and to talk to Genette. I loved the girlish feel the pieces had, from the floral tank top to the silk floral shorts. One piece I can’t wait to see styled is the bow tie. The brown leather strap detail on it was perfect. Genette will be partnering with BangBang Bijoux for the collection. Rachel Bingham of BangBang Bijoux will be making custom jewelry pieces to go with Genette’s collection. I bought a pair of earrings from Rachel back in the spring, so I was thrilled to hear about this collaboration. Make sure you buy your tickets for Genette’s show, you won’t be disappointed!

Jazz Shoes.

Top: Joe Fresh
Skirt: Motel
Shoes: Sam Edelman

As we were leaving the house to take these pictures, I asked my husband if he liked my jazz shoes. He replied that he didn’t and wondered if he always had to like what I was wearing. Well hunny, too bad those jazz shoes made it on the blog! Does your man’s opinion or friend’s opinion affect what you are wearing? ( He just read this, and said “of course it does!”)

Prepster time.

Shirt: Joe Fresh
Cardigan: Joe Fresh
Necklace: I don’t remember, haha.
Pants: H&M
Flats: Sam Edelman

There is something about going back to school that makes me want to whip out my cardigans and button downs. Joe Fresh always seems to have a great selection of those two things. What are your go to pieces for back to school?

Leather.

Dress: Only
Belt: Vintage
Wedges: Sam Edelman
Jacket: Soia&Kyo
Necklace: Forever21

One piece I suggest you invest in is a leather jacket. I somehow convinced my husband a couple of years ago to buy me this jacket. Well worth the money. A leather jacket is always in style. You can throw it on over anything, and feel instantly polished. If you don’t have the funds right now for a real leather jacket, there are tons of great pleather ones out. I have selected a few of my favorite leather and pleather jackets here.
Enjoy your week everyone! And thank you for reading. I really appreciate all of you.

Neutrals.

Vest: Old Navy
Dress: H&M
Wedges: Sam Edelman
Necklace: Matt&Nat

I have a feeling I will be getting a lot of wear out of this vest. Vests tend to serve me well. Are you one to wear vests?

I'm a Country Singer.

Dress: Thrifted
Vest: Only
Belt: Winners?
Wedges: Target

I’m not really a country singer, my husband just thought that I looked like one tonight. Trust me, you don’t want to hear me sing.
On with my outfit. This week is suppose to be beautiful, so I am excited to be able to wear summer dresses and wedges still. I am going to embrace it while I can. Are you ready for fall, or still holding onto summer?
